A Long-expected update

Lots and lots has been happening and I've barely had time to keep this up to date. I've travelled to New York, begun powerlifting and started to learn Hindi! (नमस्ते!).

I finished the last of many studies I have been spending the past two years working on—to teach myself the art fundamentals an art school should offer—and am now spending my time on original illustrations and building a portfolio (which I shall post about soon!).

More ep121 work

I've been super busy with office work so I've had to find time painting at night:

been doing lots of portraits:

and plein airs!

Painting outside digitally is incredible fun and I'm happy to be one of the first couple of people that do this with a tablet - the night paintings were about 6 hours of sitting in my garden each, spooking neighbours with my under-lit face. the forest painting is 3 days in, hopefully will finish with a fourth visit if the weather permits it.

ep121 and plein air

This blog is about to hit 100 followers!  Thank you all, I will be sure to give it more attention.

So I purchased an ASUS EP121, a new slate tablet that combines a high quality screen, powerful i5 computer with windows 7 and a wacomized screen to make some sort of portable Cintiq.  I think this thing is basically any digital painters dream device at the moment, and something I've been waiting a long time for.

Travelled to Sargent's grave in Brookwood Cemetery to pay our respects and found a beautiful and expansive burial ground to paint - will definitely be returning soon.

I stood beside the grave of him who blazed
The Comet of a season, and I saw
The humblest of all sepulchres, and gazed
With not the less of sorrow and of awe
On that neglected turf and quiet stone,
With name no clearer than the names unknown
